WYES KICKS OFF THE 25TH YEAR OF SEASON OF GOOD TASTES

This season marks the the 25th year that WYES has spotlighted some of the finest local restaurants during it's annual WYES SEASON OF GOOD TASTES. Guests can look forward to a delicious meal planned by the chef with delectable wines, spirits and/or cocktails paired with each course. This season, from December through March, guests can choose from six restaurants with menus highlighting everything from Slow Roasted Peking Duck, to Chargrilled Gulf Oysters to Soupe à la Bière with leeks, potato and house-made bacon.

NYE on the Riverfront at Marche

Ring in 2017 overlooking the spectacular fireworks display of the dueling barges on the river and the ball drop in historic Jackson Square in the newest riverfront venue for the most elegant New Year’s Eve party in New Orleans. Marche`, the former Bella Luna, is pulling out all of the stops to make this the most talked about New Year’s party in town. The all-inclusive event ticket will include a gourmet food stations, butler passed Hors D’ Oeuvres, full open premium bar with free flowing champagne and a special toast at midnight.

Bourbon Vieux NYE Balcony Bash!

New Year’s Eve Bourbon Vieux Balcony Bash! The Bourbon Vieux will hosts its annual NYE celebration on the largest Bourbon Street Balcony. The event will offer a full gourmet buffet, open premium bar, party favors, and a champagne toast at midnight. You can dance then night away to the amazing sounds of a DJ while taking in all of the action of the French Quarter from a private balcony. There will be reserved seating and only a limited amount of tickets will be sold. Party is from 9PM-1AM. $165.00 per person inclusive.

JOAN OF ARC PARADE SEEKS STUDENT JOAN OF ARC: MAID OF HONOR CONTEST DEADLINE NOVEMBER 28

The 9th Annual Joan of Arc Parade, held each year on Joan of Arc's birthday, January 6th (also Twelfth Night), is seeking applicants for its 7th annual "Maid of Honor" contest. Applicants must be between 16 and 19 years of age, speak some French, be knowledgeable of Joan of Arc's story and find relevance in it, and demonstrate considerable community leadership and compassion. Completed applications are due by November 28th, which include an essay, recommendation letter, and proof of community service and community leadership.

Organ Recital at St. Louis Cathedral

November 20th at 6pm the St. Louis Cathedral is hosting an organ recital by Jean-Baptiste Monnot, organist of the famed Cavaille-Coll organ of the Abbey Church of St. Ouen, Rouen, France. As a concert organist, he performs more than 100 recitals a year throughout France, Australia, Austria, Belgium, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, and the United States. In 2015, Figaro newspaper of Paris named him one of three young organists to watch. He has served as the artistic director of the annual festival Le Printemps des orgues in Mantes-la-Jolie, France.

French Market Annual Tree Lighting

Thursday November 17, 2016, The French Market Corporation hosts its annual tree lighting at Washington Artillery Park, across from Jackson Square. The lighting is the first event on the Christmas New Orleans Style calendar, ushering in the holiday season in New Orleans. The evening begins with a musical performance of jazz holiday music by the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park Centennial Band at 5:00 p.m. At 5:45 p.m., civic leaders will speak and the tree will be lit at 6:00 p.m.
