Kick Off the Cultural Season

Football season in Louisiana is as beloved and revered as a piping hot bowl of ya mama’s filé gumbo! However, it’s not the only show in town that kicks off in the fall, as the cultural arts scene also hits the ground running. Ballet, symphony, Broadway, and opera patrons will score big with the abundance of winning performances around town, while music fans will have plenty to cheer about with major headliners touching down in the Crescent City. Sept. 27: Beyonce – Renaissance Tour
Known as Queen Bey, Beyonce is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. She holds the record for the most GRAMMY® wins of all time with 32 and is the most-nominated female artist in GRAMMY® history with 88. The singer/songwriter/actress/businesswoman has also won 29 MTV Video Awards, 21 Soul Train Music Awards, 32 BET Awards, and 27 Billboard Music Awards, among others.

Sept. 6: Devon Allman & Donavon Frankenreiter with special guest Mishka
Rock ‘n’ roll recording artists Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman) and Donavon Frankenreiter are hoping to make history in 2023. The longtime friends have teamed up for the See It All American Tour to attempt to set the Official World Record for the fastest time to play a concert in each of the 50 states, by performing in 50 states in 49 days.

The multi-talented performer, composer, Broadway star, choreographer, and social media personality rose to prominence on and after his appearance on American Idol.
Oct. 18: Michael Martin Murphey
The legendary singer, songwriter, and artist with over 35 albums and 50 years of commercial and touring success, performs his top western/country/pop songs.

Initially associated with new wave, neo-psychedelia, and indie rock, their unique sound later came to feature slower tempos and surreal soundscapes reminiscent of dream-pop and post-rock.
Oct. 27: Michelle Branch – The Trouble with Fever Tour
The Grammy®-winning American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer has made a name for herself with her unique blend of pop, rock and country music.
Nov. 7: The Fixx
The London-based new wave group managed to sustain a successful career in America for several years in the mid-'80s by flirting with the mainstream with their catchy, keyboard-driven pop.
Nov. 17: Ben Bailey
Best known for hosting the Emmy Award-winning game show Cash Cab in New York City, the comedian/writer/producer/director brings his half-variety, half-podcast, including stand-up, sketches, and music, to HOB.

Sept. 16: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

In this new show, you can join in the fun as Peppa and friends teach some of their favorite songs. Dance, clap, and sing with Peppa and her family, along with Pedro Pony, Suzy Sheep, and Gerald Giraffe. Blow up those balloons and get the disco ball ready as you and your family party along with Peppa in this 60-minute interactive musical adventure!

The five-time GRAMMY® award-winning group, Snarky Puppy is a collective of sorts with as many as 20 members in regular rotation. At its core, the band represents the convergence of both black and white American music culture with various accents from around the world.
Oct. 21: New Orleans Ballet Association presents Complexions Contemporary Ballet
Complexions Contemporary Ballet embodies the legendary, award-winning work of powerhouses Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, captivating audiences for nearly three decades. This mesmerizing troupe will perform a NOBA-commissioned world premiere piece to the live music of New Orleans native, critically acclaimed jazz artist Chief Adjuah, incorporating jazz, hip-hop, rock, world, and electronic forms. Closing the evening is LOVE ROCKS, set to the Rock ‘n’ Soul music of GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz.

Nov. 10, 12: New Orleans Opera presents Blue
Following its premiere, Blue was named the Best New Opera in 2020 by the Music Critics Association of North America, telling a story of racial injustice in the US today with a libretto by Tazewell Thompson set to music by Jeanine Tesori, performed by the LPO.
Nov. 18–19: Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra presents Jurassic Park™ In Concert
Relive the magic of Jurassic Park on the big screen with a thrilling performance of John Williams’ iconic score by the LPO, featuring conductor Julian Pellicano. The action-packed adventure pits man against prehistoric predators in the ultimate battle for survival. Sept. 14: Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Opening Night
New music director Matthew Kraemer and the LPO open the season with a trio of works to set the stage for what’s ahead. A world premiere commission by internationally renowned composer Stacy Garrop will usher in the new era. The remainder of the program will showcase exceptional pieces of German repertoire, including Hindemith's Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes and one of Beethoven's most popular orchestral works, Symphony No. 5.

Best known for her 2006 single Put Your Records On, Corinne Bailey Rae is a singer-songwriter who writes a mixture of pop and soul music. Her debut album was nominated for both GRAMMY® and BRIT awards.
Oct. 5: Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra presents Price & Prokofiev
Featuring guest conductor Jonathan Taylor Rush, three 20th-century composers put their best pen forward to charm audiences. William Grant Still’s Festive Overture and Florence Price’s first symphony put both composers squarely in the forefront of American composers. Prokofiev’s "Classical" symphony shows the composer’s playful style.

Experience Jordan Peele’s ingenious, ground-breaking social thriller and Michael Abel's award-winning score performed live by the LPO.
Oct. 18: Kesha – The Gag Order Tour
The Grammy®-nominated pop singer-songwriter has been consistent with her hits on the Billboard charts since her 2010 lead single, Tik Tok, was released, selling 14 million copies worldwide.
Oct. 21: Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra presents Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances
The LPO dances through this Orpheum Session with unforgettable melodies and an LPO premiere. Stravinsky’s suite of ballet music from Pulcinella takes center stage before Rachmaninov’s gorgeous melodies leave us enraptured. Gabriella Ortiz in Kauyumari takes the orchestra on a trip to the spirit world in this piece composed in 2021.

Ranked among the greatest living bands of their generation, the GRAMMY®-nominated alternative/indie rock band brings its electric sound to New Orleans.
Nov. 2: Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra presents Mozart & Prokofiev
Principal oboe Virginia McDowell is featured on one of the most beautiful concerti in the instrument’s repertoire. Ukrainian composer, Valentin Silvestrov’s Evening Serenade, is the second movement of a reverent piece that represents the "still metaphors of silence." Prokofiev’s fifth symphony marks the composer’s return to symphonic form after a sixteen-year hiatus.
Nov. 16: Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra presents Porgy & Bess
Featuring conductor Kellen Gray, tales of love, loss, and family ties are expressed from the African-American perspective in this stirring program. Gershwin takes the audience to Catfish Row for familiar tunes such as "Summertime", "I Got Plenty O’ Nuttin’", and "It Ain’t Necessarily So".

New Orleans' PJ Morton is an uncommonly versatile keyboardist, songwriter, and producer known for his own R&B, gospel, and pop albums, as well as extensive studio work for other performers. The multi-GRAMMY® nominated artist is also the long-term keyboardist of Maroon 5.
Nov. 30: Liz Phair – Guyville Tour with Special Guest Blondshell
Singer-songwriter Liz Phair was one of the most significant independent talents of the early 1990s. Her current tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of her beloved 1993 debut album, Exile in Guyville, one of the most highly regarded albums of the decade.
