In many communities the final notes of Spring are indicators that residents will be heading out for vacations to the beach or the mountains, and that social activities in the town will be taking a break or ceasing completely.
As is this town’s style, New Orleans does not zig or zag on the same schedule as everyone else. The pace of festivals and theatrical presentations, in fact, only increases during the onset of summer.

A long time ago, when I was young and trusted people, someone very wise told me that the key to a happy life is finding balance. Well, I took him literally and started my failed career as a ballet dancer. However, the older I get the more I think that finding your yin can be the best thing you can do for your yang. Royal Street has a yin and a yang that are the perfect visual balance in a decadent color explosion.

When the dog bites or the bee stings, it is flowers that we use to pull us up out of the dumps and help us to “get it together Mary”, another saying dubbed by yours truly.

I love mayonnaise almost as much as Barry Manilow loves a weekend in New England.
I have never met a mayo I didn’t like, and I have never met a dish that didn’t benefit from knowing a spoonful of it. Mayo isn’t the only condiment my unsophisticated palette has warmed up to. In fact, I can’t imagine life without any of them: ketchup, mustard, sriracha, the Bywater! Wait, did I say the Bywater? Yes … yes, I did.
