The Royal Street Arts District is gearing up for what they are calling the best, the biggest and the booziest Dirty Linen Night yet. Traditionally, DLN falls on the Saturday after White Linen Night, the evening of the famed Red Dress Run. This year is no exception. With last year’s shop and event participation exceeding that of any past year, the team planning the event promises a new and exciting face to the much-loved Royal Street party. A new logo and web design promises to capture the essence of the city while streamlining ticket purchasing and event prep. Focusing on the cocktails, last year the RSAD team shied away from restaurant pairings and food presentations and focused on the drinking side of the event. This year that focus will narrow to signature cocktails and art. Begun 19 years ago to support Royal Street store fronts during a traditionally challenging season, the team has since appointed a social media and marketing team to amplify the online presence of its participants and sponsors. Street performances, musicians, dancers, and second lines are planned to keep the crowd entertained as they make their way from gallery to gallery. Each participating shop emblazed with this year’s secret door decorations. The event co-chairs, Catherine Betz of Elliott Gallery and NOLA artist Matt Rinard, will return to the helm, with Ryan Tramonte rejoining the team after a brief hiatus. This powerhouse triad has taken the event from near obscurity and returned it to its rightful place as a much-anticipated summertime party in New Orleans. Closing out one of the most satisfying Saturdays of the year in New Orleans, DLN 2023 is proud to show off its new parts and shake the dust off its old ones.
