18th annual Bill Russell Lecture: A Tribute to John Robichaux

The Historic New Orleans Collection will present the 18th annual Bill Russell Lecture—“A Tribute to John Robichaux”—on Wednesday, April 5 at its Williams Research Center (410 Chartres Street). Robichaux (1866–1939), a native of Thibodaux, is considered to have been the most continuously active dance bandleader in New Orleans. To add to the fun, the New John Robichaux Society Orchestra, led by Tom Hook and Wendell Brunious, will join forces with the Louisiane Vintage Dancers to recreate an evening of 19th-century entertainment.

Café Beignet Partners Have Opened A Third Location

New Orleans, LA (March 16, 2017)— For 26 years, Café Beignet has been operating in the French Quarter with two locations. Now, the franchise has announced a third location on Decatur Street. The restaurant opened on February 23, 2017. It is located on the first floor of the JAX Brewery at 600 Decatur St. and the corner of Toulouse Street. The new location will be complete with a 48 foot fully functioning bar and live jazz. It will also eventually have a to-go window serving café au lait and orders of beignets for walk up customers.

Italian-American St. Joseph’s Parade is March 18th

The Italian American Marching Club, one of the largest ethnic organizations in the Southeastern United States, hosts this lively annual parade, which celebrates all things Italian.
