Martin Lawrence Spring Art Auction

February 03, 2016
Martin Lawrence Galleries New Orleans will host a live auction Sunday, March 6,, 2016, at the Westin New Orleans Hotel, an extraordinary annual event that collectors, art lovers, gallery browsers and artists, won’t want to miss!

Established in 1975, Martin Lawrence has extended their galleries over the past four decades to ten U.S. locations. The galleries are renowned for their extensive and superb art collection as well as their impeccable customer service.

Royal Street is the French Quarter’s crown jewel in terms of elegance, decorum and culture, which makes it the perfect location for this flagship New Orleans Gallery.

The staff at New Orleans’ Martin Lawrence Gallery, headed by Gallery Director Mary Coxe, is comprised of some of the most dedicated and knowledgeable associates in the fine arts business. “We make art personal” says Coxe. “We are the only gallery in New Orleans with original Chagall paintings, a Dali original, a collection of Picasso – including linocuts, etchings and aquatints – and works by Andy Warhol,” she adds.

A New Orleans native, Coxe has worked at the gallery address since she joined the art world 28 years ago. The previous gallery closed in 2001 and Coxe stayed on with the new tenant, Martin Lawrence Galleries.

“It is exciting to be the gallery director of a great business with such an extensive collection of artists,” explains Coxe,” and we are unique because we own our entire inventory, while many high-end galleries handle art on consignment.”

In the last 15 years Martin Lawrence has lent nearly 250 different artworks by 16 different artists to 32 different museums around the world. In that same timeframe, Martin Lawrence Galleries conducted over 100 auctions nationwide from their very diverse collection.

Like all Martin Lawrence locales, the New Orleans gallery strives for excellence and guarantees to possess the highest quality of art. Each piece is authentic and validated with a certificate of authenticity.

Original paintings, sculpture and limited edition works of art will be available at the auction. “The catalogue consists of Warhol, Picasso, Murakami, Miro, Mas, Lalonde, Kostavi, Kondakova, Ertè, Dali, Chagall and many, many more,” Coxe notes
