Take a Stroll Down Royal Street - Discover the Magic of Art

May 20, 2025
Danny DeLancey, a self-taught Louisiana artist, has painted in New Orleans' historic French Quarter for over twenty years. Renowned for his vibrant acrylic paintings, DeLancey's artistic career also spans graphic design and curation of several New Orleans art galleries.

Danny's versatility and broad artistic scope, encompassing surrealism, geometric abstraction, architectural work and beyond, demonstrate an immense passion and enthusiasm for art that is often contagious. He is always willing to share expert tips and advice with aspiring young artists. Danny's artwork is featured in private collections across the United States and in over seventy countries worldwide.

DeLancey started his artistic endeavors in the famous Pirate's Alley before launching his own gallery in July 2020. His expanded and newest gallery, DeLancey Fine Art, is located at 830 Royal St. in the heart of the New Orleans French Quarter.

For the past decade, Danny DeLancey has been developing The Stroll Series, a collection of artworks that embody the significance of humor, positivity, and appreciation for life. The Stroll Series represents the conviction that amidst hardship, one can dress up, go for a stroll, and discover the magic and excitement that life has to offer. The current artistic focus of The Stroll series showcases an iconic rabbit in a tuxedo posed against a backdrop of diverse, artfully designed landscapes. This series symbolizes the importance of fostering a positive attitude, sense of humor, and devotion to cherished relationships.

The Rabbit head incorporated into each scene in The Stroll Series adds a touch of whimsy and surrealism, representing one's sense of humor. The Tuxedo symbolizes confidence, positivity, and feeling good. The Three Balloons represent the importance of prioritizing life's values and holding on to what one cherishes most. On a personal note, they represent Danny's three daughters. The Cane represents resilience and perseverance in the face of life's challenges. While each composition has its own unique sub-meaning, the overall message conveyed is: "As you stroll through life, maintain positivity, humor, and hold on to what's dear to you."

DeLancey muses: “Whether it’s traveling, teaching, or painting in public, I feed off both the energy of the people I meet and the experiences I have. I am an explorer, a romantic and an adventurer. I take all of these moments and try to capture them in my paintings to share with others.”

Some of DeLancey's latest commissioned paintings include night scenes of French Quarter architecture and New Orleans snow scenes of historic homes, based on the January 2025 “once in a lifetime” snowfall. His use of light and perspective draws new and old fans to his work, which continues to evolve as he adds meaning and depth from personal touches, in both surreal and traditional scenery. When asked what painting DeLancey finds most exciting to paint, he replied, "I am most excited about the very next piece. Every day brings a new challenge and fulfillment in each new painting."

Danny has made appearances alongside his artwork in notable TV series such as CW's The Originals series finale, Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, Showtime's Your Honor, and CBS' NCIS: New Orleans.

Danny DeLancey looks forward to presenting his artistry through a live painting demonstration in Paris, France, during the Paris AI Week event on July 8–10, 2025. DeLancey's newest gallery on Royal Street is planning a Midsummer Night Gallery Soiree on July 19, where he will reveal new art and merchandise. And as usual, the Delancey Fine Art staff look forward to the art crowd and fellowship during our annual Dirty Linen Night on Aug. 10 from 6 to 9 p.m.!

Danny recently enjoyed an exciting and amazing visit from the famous artist, Robert Wyland of Wyland galleries and Wyland Worldwide recently. Danny and Robert Wyland collaborated on a new piece in a live painting at DeLancey's gallery. They are looking forward to more collaborative work, especially focused on the natural world and ocean landscape scenes.
